SCS SB 420 -- CLEAN WATER COMMISSION

SPONSOR:  Gibbons (Richard)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Conservation and Natural Resources by a vote of 12 to 0.

This substitute increases from three to four the number of
members of the Clean Water Commission that can be from the same
political party.

The substitute contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that in recent years the number of
members on the Clean Water Commission was increased from six to
seven, but the number of members per each political party was not
adjusted accordingly.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Gibbons; and Department of
Natural Resources.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
